What position does the cervix take when pregnant?

When conception has taken place, what position does the cervix take? Can that be another indication of possible pregnancy? What about the cervix's feel - if implantation occurs, does it necessarily stay soft or get hard as it would during a normal luteal pahase? My assumption is that these things are not predictable signs, or the information would already be included in this wonderfully thorough site! But... never hurts to ask :) Thanks in advance for the response, Jen

Hi, Susan!!

It was SOO cool to hear from you!! I just LOVE seeing all of us "oldtime-Wombers" coming out of the woodwork, now that the 'Womb's up and running!!!

We're almost CB's, my dear! I'm 7dpo today (according to my "Fertility Friend" software) and don't have great hopes for this cycle ... no symptoms yet, but it still may be a bit early ...

As far as the HSG goes, it was over REALLY fast -- the anxiety about doing it WAY outlasted the actual experience!! The whole thing took about 10 minutes. I took 800mg of Motrin about 1 hour prior to the HSG, and it seemed to help with the cramping. Oh, did I mention? There is some pretty sharp cramping when they place the "cervical stabilizer" on -- it's a clamp on your cx, my dear. (Can you say "YOWCH!" boys and girls?!?!) My cx vocalized its objection to the "stabilizer" by bleeding a bit and cramping. Fortunately, after the clamp was placed, the catheter inserted, and the speculum removed, the cramping slowed down to a reasonable twinge. You must lay completely flat so that the x-ray machine can hover over your abdomen, although they did have me move from side to side (about a 45-degree angle) to shoot some side-shots of the uterus. The really COOL thing about it is, first of all, it's over rather quickly, and second, you get to watch the dye flow through your uterus and out your tube(s) on the screen ... as it's being injected!!! It's really incredible ...

I've heard from women who's tubes (ie., BOTH tubes) are blocked that the injection of the dye can be very painful (similar to the placement of the cx-clamp). This is because the dye has nowhere else to go, but back out the uterus. The pressure inside the uterus increases, and causes an equal cramping response ... and thus ... pain. Fortunately, my one tube was open, so the injection of the dye just felt like a warm flush (sounds like an ad for a douche or something! lol). Warning: Some of the dye spills back out the cx and vagina, and it's kinda' sticky. It doesn't hurt, but it feels sort of ... weird.

I spotted for about 2-3 days after the HSG. My RE had me take 4 antibiotic pills prophylactically, and told me to abstain from BD or inserting anything into my vagina (like a tampon) for at least 24 hours. We abstained longer than that because I was nervous to BD when spotting, as well as the fact that BD just didn't work out with our schedules until 5 days post-HSG.

Sorry -- I don't know much about Clomid and CM. But I, too, get watery CM about a day or two before AF arrives. It's a pretty sure-fire bet that she'll be here within 48 hours if I see watery/thin CM. Hope it means something ELSE for you!!! *wink, wink*

And, yes -- most Ob/Gyn/RE types seem to believe that one is at a higher chance for getting PG after an HSG. Something about clearing out the tubes or something. I dunno. I doubt that that holds if you only have one friggin' tube, though. *SIGH* Sorry ... started the pity-party again!!! >=(

I am getting ready to start a new job once I return from the Midwest. I'll (conveniently) be gone from 10-15dpo, and I've resolved to NOT bring my HPT's with me!! I'll test the morning after I get home. That will be 16dpo for me, and I've never gone that far before without being PG (unless I really messed up my O-date estimation).

Keep me posted, girl!! SOO glad to "see" ya'!! Gobs of ++++++ vibes comin' atcha'!!!~~~~~~~~~~~~
